Learning Outcomes

On successful completion of this module students should be able to:

* Learn to investigate the current economic environment of a firm or financial organisation and analyse and evalute its financial strategy with respect to particular features of its external or internal environment. The group part of this project includes, as objectives, the development of teamworking and presentational skills.

* Develop, individually, business finance research skills, including networking with other people investigating firms in the same sector.

Aims

This module is the final year focal point of the Business Finance degree. Its aims are for students to integrate learning from various parts of the scheme, develop practical skills in business economic research methods, develop team-work, time-management, initiative, report writing and presentational skills.

Brief description

This is a final year core module involving supervised preparation of group and individual reports on economic and financial aspects of the operating environment of a financial sector and a firm or organisation within that.

Content

Report writing structure, and style; leadership, motivation and delegation; team-building; presentations; research methods; sources of information; company/organisational/institutional analysis; report-writing, drafting, revision and finalisation.

Transferable skills

Project work will develop students' ability to work both in a team context and also independently; IT and information handling skills will be developed and reports are expected to be word processed; students will be expected to manager their own time in order to meet submission deadlines.
