Learning Outcomes
On successful completion of this module students should be able to:
1. Demonstrate a detailed knowledge and understanding of the regulatory strategies underlying European Competition Law.
2. Demonstrate a detailed knowledge and understanding of the European Union¿s reform of the enforcement of its¿ Competition Law regime.
3. Explain and critically evaluate the operation of the European regulatory strategy in the context of global Competition Law.
4. Evaluate the effect of current competition law strategies upon the regulation of commercial business activities in Europe.
5. Display an ability to gain access to the relevant literature and materials in this field and how to use them to engage in a critical discussion of the subject.
Brief description
This module will enable students to continue the study of European competition law at a postgraduate level via the medium of distance learning. Such a course of study will allow the student the opportunity of continuing to develop and diversify their existing commercial experience in relation to the legal regulation of competition in Europe. This module provides an appreciation of the current and future regulatory strategies concerning this modern and important area of commercial regulation.
Brief Description:
This module will build upon the earlier study of European Competition Law by taking a more global and strategic approach to the issues which are currently arising from the attempted regulation of business competition within the European Union. The module will also focus upon the significant regulatory issues and challenges posed by and arising from the recent reformation of the 'public' and 'private' enforcement of European Competition Law.

3. Article 82 EC - strategic issues relating to the regulation of monopolistic abuse.
4. New techniques in the institutional enforcement of European Competition Law.
5. The private enforcement of European Competition Law.
