Clay CA108: This introductory course in ceramics will allow the student to produce a body of work in ceramic design creating an imaginative response using the theme of the landscape as inspiration. This will cover basic techniques associated with three dimensional work in clay such as slabbing, coiling and working in the round. Students will be encouraged to investigate historical and contemporary references and evaluate the limitations of working in clay. The course will be entirely practical and will incorporate design skills, observational drawing skills to source idea development as well as knowledge of different firing techniques.

Wire Wax PaperIntensive CB306: This course is delivered as 4 consecutive days at a beautiful venue. If you would like to turn your course in to a study vacation, there is also a possibility of accommodation at this venue so please enquire. You will be introduced to the practical elements of working in three dimensions using wax wire and papier-mâché. Ideas will be initiated by studies of observational drawings set by they tutor and developed in the visual diary. Students will be encouraged to investigate historical and contemporary references and explore drawing with wire using a variety of medium. Tutor demonstrations will give practical techniques needed to realise and develop ideas.

Wire Wax Paper CD302: The start of this course involves working directly from a life model using both 2d and 3d methods. Use a multitude of different media including wire and cardboard, a body of interesting and innovative drawings will be created through observation of line, mass and movement within the human body. Students will be given technique workshops in using wire, papier mache and wax to support all 3d outcomes. Observation will be made of contemporary artists connected to these materials and methods explored within the course. Students will need to provide wire and basic collage materials but wax will be provided by the tutor, No experience necessary; just an open mind!
