On completion of this module, students should be better able to recognise the peculiarities of Italy, its contradictions and achievements. Furthermore, they should have become familiar with:

  • the Italian political system
  • the Italian state structure
  • the Italian economic system and organizations
  • some social aspects of contemporary Italy

Brief description

Among the world's economic powers, Italy displays some atypical aspects that are often difficult for foreigners to understand and interpret. The module intends to lead students to the discovery of some of these typically Italian traits through the study of Italian political institutions, economic organizations and social manifestations and the role they have had in the recent history of this country.
