Students Visit to Cardigan Bay Marine Wildlife Centre
13 November 2015
Undergraduate students from tourism management and countryside management courses went on a field visit to the Cardigan Bay Marine Wildlife Centre in New Quay, Ceredigion.
Students had an opportunity to look around the displays in the centre before they were taken to the new education room and were given talks by Sarah Perry and Steve Hartley.
Steve, skipper of the wildlife –watching vessel Sulaire , spoke to the students about the ethics of wildlife tourism and led a discussion of the use of voluntary codes of conduct to regulate tour operators’ behaviour.
Sarah led an interesting discussion about the research being undertaken by the Centre and the close relationship between research, public education and the wildlife tourism industry.
