Leadership Study Trip
02 February 2017
The Institute of Business and Law students enjoyed two days of leadership activities at Gregynog (25st and 26nd of January 2017). Designed and led by Dr Sophie Bennett, Tim Gillison, Robert Bowen and Tony Orme, and assisted by our AberForward placement Joshua Stacey, this course gave students the opportunity to try out practical leadership techniques and develop assessment centre skills in a fun and supportive environment.
In true Business and Law Institute fashion some games contained a competitive element, with students competing for ‘Aber Dollars’, while others were designed to develop trust. Highlights included the self-assembly game where ‘Team Rob’ emerged victorious with their ‘Catopia’ cat playhouse. Most notable for novelty value was, however, Team Tony & Josh; with ‘Swench’ their garden seat for Gnomes.
The talk by entrepreneur Layla Bennett, Owner and Managing Director of Hawksdrift Falconry was also a great success, aided by ‘Shaka’ one of her working Harris Hawks.
Overall, ‘Team Tim’ and ‘Team Rob’ collected the most ’Aber Dollars’ and were, of course, dutifully rewarded.
