Network
All student bedrooms have a network connection offering high-speed access via the JANET academic network. This service is provided primarily for academic purposes and all use is governed by Information Services regulations and guidelines: http://www.inf.aber.ac.uk/regulations/
To connect to the network your computer will need
- an ethernet card (most come with this as standard)
- a network (RJ45) cable - these are available to purchase on campus priced £2
New students will need to have activated their Aberystwyth University email account and will receive an email in the weeks before you arrive with instructions for doing this: http://www.inf.aber.ac.uk/advisory/faq/14/
All students will need to set up their computer for use on our network. Full instructions can be found on this page: http://www.inf.aber.ac.uk/advisory/faq/138/
You can set this up anytime before you arrive
If you don’t have time to set up your computer in advance instructions will be available from your hall’s reception when you arrive and help will be available in the Hugh Owen Library if you need it: http://www.inf.aber.ac.uk/advisory/faq/320/
