Getting to Aberystwyth


The Town 

Aberystwyth is situated on the West Coast of Wales. It is one of the main commercial, administrative, social and shopping centres for the Mid-Wales area, which itself is predominantly rural and an important tourist region. Aberystwyth has a reputation as an international centre of learning, in addition to the University, it is also home to the National Library of Wales and a number of other educational and research institutions.

The University

Aberystwyth University was founded in 1872, and is now spread between the town and two campus sites. The University at Aberystwyth has at present a total of around 7,500 students.

Aberystwyth School of Law

The Aberystwyth School of Law, formerly known as the Department of Law & Criminology was founded in 1901, it re-located to the Llanbadarn Centre in September 2013 following an extensive programme of re-furbishment.  Our expert staff plus state-of-the-art teaching and IT facilities ensure that we meet student learning and professional development needs. The department has over 700 students on its main undergraduate (LLB and BA) and postgraduate (LLM, MPhil and PhD) degree schemes, while a number of students from other degree schemes also take courses in Law.
