Changing your Study Scheme or Modules

Should you wish to change your Study Scheme or Modules you must report this immediately by completing the Change of Registration facility on your Student Record online by clicking on the 'Academic Record' link on the top of your home page.  From the drop down menu click on  'Change Registration' and follow the instructions.  You can use this facility if your proposed change is a simple change of course or module and does NOT involve changing the year of course, status or mode of study.  You should note that changing you study scheme after the first four weeks of the session in your first year is not normally permissible.

If you wish to make a more significant change to your studies for example changing your year of course and/or status (going out on placement) and/or mode of study (from full time to part time study) you should do so by completing a Change of Registration Form . You can also request a Change of Registration Form from the Academic Quality and Records Office by emailing ugfstaff@aber.ac.uk .

Provisional Registration and Change of Registration

Study Scheme changes

If you wish to make a minor change your Study Scheme during or after Provisional Registration you can do so using the online Change of Registration facility on your Student Record.  You can use this facility to make simple changes to your Study Scheme and as long as it does not involve changing your subject significantly, year of course or status you should use the online system.  If your change is more complex and involves changing the year of course or status you should use the paper form.  You should note that changing you study scheme after the first four weeks of the session in your first year is not normally permissible.

Module changes

You cannot use the Change of Registration facility/form to report changes to your module registration unless you have fully completed Provisional Registration.  If you failed to complete Provisional Registration and you make a request to change your modules using the online facility or complete the form your request will be rejected.  If you wish to make changes to your modules you will need to attend registration in person in September.

If you completed Provional Registration fully you can use the Change of Registration facility to change your module choices for next session and once the department(s) have approved your changes you will still be able to complete Online Registration in September within the University intranet.

Important

Failure to report any changes may lead to you being entered for assessment in the wrong modules and subsequently being unable to complete your studies in any one session.

You should note that there are strict deadlines which you MUST keep to when making a change to your registration.  If you request the following changes after the deadlines your request will need to be considered by the Institute Director (or nominee) and will only be approved in very exceptional circumstances:

  • any change to your study scheme after 4 weeks of the session in your first year for all students.
  • any change to a module after 4 weeks of the semester.

All change of Study Schemes requires formal notification to your Student Loan Company (SLC), Local Education Authority (LEA) or any other sponsor by the University. You should note that if you make any change to your Study Scheme, Mode of Study, the duration of your course, or your status you are also obliged to inform your financial sponsor (Student Loan Company, Local Education Authority, etc). It is your responsibility to ensure you discuss fully with your financial sponsor the implications of making such changes to your registration.
