Funding Schemes

There are a variety of specialist financial schemes to support organisations working with universities.  With experience of developing funding applications, Business Development staff from CCS can advise on possible sources of funding for specific projects involving Aberystwyth University.  In many cases, grants of up to 50% of the total cost are available (some of these programmes are just available to specific types, sizes and locations of businesses).

Current funding schemes to support Business / Academic collaborations include:
  • Collaborative Industrial Research Projects  - provide funding to encourage and enable groups of companies and universities to carry out collaborative industrial R&D projects.
  • Access to Masters (ATM) -  supports collaborations between organisations in the Convergence Area of Wales and Aberystwyth University through postgraduate projects that are part of taught Masters degrees.
  • Knowledge Economy Skills Scholarships (KESS) - support collaborative research projects (MPhil and PhD) linked to businesses based in the Convergence area of Wales.
  • Knowledge Transfer Partnerships - offer up to 60% funding of academic resources for research or new product development.  'Classic KTP' projects can range from 1-3 years.
  • Spinout Support Framework at Aberystwyth University  - offers support to new businesses 'Spinning' out from (or 'Spinning' into) academic departments of the University.  The package includes loan and/or equity funding, grant funding towards consultany support and access to training.

At any point in time, there may be other financial support schemes available;  whatever your project, please do not hesitate to contact CCS for further information.
