Initiatives Open for Business

At any one point, there are a number of initiatives which your organisation may wish to engage with.  Current opportunities include:

  • CADARN Skills Centre - the entry point to discover more about Continuining Professional Development and Higher Level Skills Training offered by the Universities across Mid and North Wales.
  • BEACON - the BEACON Biorefining Centre of Excellence will help Welsh businesses develop new ways of converting crops such as rye grass, oats and miscanthus (elephant grass) into products including pharmaceuticals, chemicals, fuels and cosmetics.
  • Aberystwyth Arts Centre Creative Units - studio and workshop spaces accommodating a mixture of artists, art businesses and creative organisations within the creative hub of the Arts Centre
  • Access to Masters (ATM) -  supports collaborations between organisations in the Convergence Area of Wales and Aberystwyth University through postgraduate projects that are part of taught Masters degrees.
  • Knowledge Economy Skills Scholarships (KESS) - support collaborative research projects (MPhil and PhD) linked to businesses based in the Convergence area of Wales.
  • Welsh Institute for Sustainable Environments (WISE Network) - provides a unique opportunity for business to work in partnership with Aberystwyth, Bangor, and Swansea Universities. The project aims to create a culture of confident business people that use research, expertise, technology and innovation capacity as an essential component in their future development.
  • High Performance Computing (HPC) Wales - Wales’ national supercomputing service, providing integrated supercomputing service for businesses and researchers and assisting collaborations between the two.
  • Software Alliance Wales (SAW) - supports innovation and growth amongst the ICT and Software Sector within the Convergence areas of Wales.
  • Spinout Support Framework - a support package for businesses looking to 'Spin-into' or 'Spin-out' from the University.
  • Student / Graduate Work Placements and Work Experience Schemes -  coordinated by the Careers Advisory Service at Aberystwyth University
