Responsibilities

Tony Orme is the Enterprise Manager at Aberystwyth University.  As part of his role, he coordinates a range of enterprise activities for students, graduates and staff including the Crisalis Enterprise Club, Academic Champions of Enterprise (ACE) network and Business Start-Up Week.

Biography

Prior to taking up the post of Enterprise Manager, Tony was the Spinout Manager at Aberystwyth University for over 10 years.  Having graduated at Hatfield Polytechnic in Business Studies, Tony joined Laura Ashley Ltd. as a graduate trainee, where he worked in the soft furnishings division for a number of years, eventually becoming Quality Assurance Manager. Following redundancy, Tony joined Powys TEC where he had responsibility for helping local SMEs with staff training needs, including administering the Investors in People initiative. Tony was seconded out of the TEC for a number of years to run the Mid Wales Manufacturing Group, returning to the newly re-formed Mid Wales TEC as Operations Manager prior to joining the University.

Tony has a particular interest in business start-up; being a member of the Central Wales Strategic Young Enterprise Board and an active 'Dynamo role model', working in schools and colleges promoting self-employment.
