InvEnterPrize Competition - The Judges

The InvEnterPrize student competition will be judged by a panel of the University’s prominent Alumni who have distinguished themselves in the business and enterprise fields.

Jane Clayton – A qualified chartered accountant, Jane is an experienced  non-executive Director. She is currently Chairman of Bay Leisure Limited and Practice Director at Graham Evans & Partners LLP.  Her non-executive roles have included director and Chairman of Swansea Building Society and non-executive director of Finance Wales plc.  She was a lecturer in Accounting and Business at Swansea University (1982-2005) and has been President of Swansea Business Club and High Sheriff of West Glamorgan.

 

 Nigel Davies– After graduate and postgraduate studies in Aberystwyth, Nigel worked for 30 years in corporate technology and business. In 2003 he was the founding director of Innoval Technology, which is a UK, technology-based consultancy with a global client base. Recently Innoval was purchased by Danieli, an Italian multinational corporation.

 

Tony Diment – An experienced venture capitalist having worked in 3i, Gresham Trust plc and latterly as managing director of an early stage, Cambridge Venture Fund. Tony’s interests include Cascade Fund Management (a challenge fund for Brunel, Reading, Royal Holloway, Surrey & Sussex universities), Mercia Seed Fund (Warwick, Birmingham and other midlands Universities) and Thames Valley Growth Fund (being raised to provide a sustainable source of seed funding for entrepreneurs in Thames Valley).  He recently retired after 13 years from Foresight VCT, a fund investing in UK technology companies.

Donald Davies – Emeritus Professor in Toxicology at Imperial College London and a Founding Director of ML Laboratories plc (pharmaceuticals) one of the first public biotechnology companies to be listed on the London Stock Exchange.

 

 

 

 

Peter Gradwell – Peter studied Software Engineering at Aber, graduating in 2002. While at University he founded his own internet communications company, Gradwell dot com Ltd, which now employs 45 people and has an annual income of over £4m.  Peter is passionate about entrepreneurship and sees InventerPrize as having a natural synergy with Gradwell’s corporate aims and objectives.


 Huw Morgan – Former Head of Business Banking, HSBC Bank plc, Huw worked for HSBC for the majority of his working life. He was most recently responsible for Business Banking and Franchising for the UK. He became a fellow of the Chartered Institute of Banking in 2004.  Huw chaired the last 4 years of HSBC involvement in Start Up Stars, which was a nationwide competition for start-up businesses, with similar attributes to 'InvEnterPrize'.
