Access to Masters Scholarships

As part of the Access to Masters (ATM) programme part funded by the European Social Fund, Aberystwyth University has a number of scholarships available for students embarking on Taught Masters courses.

Eligibility:

  • Applicants should have an address in the Convergence Area of Wales on application and be permitted to work in the Convergence Area upon completion of the scholarship.
  • Only Masters applicants eligible for UK/EU fees can apply.
  • Applicants should hold (or be expecting to achieve) a minimum of a 2.1 degree (or equivalent).
  • Applicants should have already applied formally to the University for a place on one of the eligible Masters programmes.   If you have not yet applied for a place to study, please visit the Postgraduate Admissions Office website for information regarding application.

Further information:

The scholarships are part of the Access to Masters (ATM) programme backed by the Convergence European Social Fund (ESF) through the Welsh Government and places are linked to an external partner company.  A range of external partners who have an operational base in the Convergence area are eligible to participate, with the emphasis on small to medium size enterprises (SMEs). These include:

  • Micro businesses and SMEs
  • Large Companies
  • Third Sector and a limited number of Public Sector Organisations

External organisations benefit from a postgraduate research project tailored to meet the interests of the organisation as each Masters student will undertake a placement and typically complete a dissertation project with the organisation.

The number of ATM funded places available on courses will be limited by how many external organisations have applied to be partners and the number of placements and projects defined. As a result, the application process will be competitive with the best students obtaining funding. After successful completion of the taught elements of the course, each student will undertake a work placement project with the company partner, which in many cases will be developed as a dissertation.
