Knowledge Transfer Partnerships
The Knowledge Transfer Partnerships (KTP) scheme is a programme supported by the Government and run by the Technology Strategy Board. The aim of the programme is to increase knowledge transfer between HE and business by working together on a specific collaborative project.
KTP’s offer academic partners the opportunity to:
- Publish high quality research papers
- Stimulate innovation
- Lead rewarding collaborations with innovative businesses
- Supervise and act as mentors for postgraduates working on company-based projects
- Gain ideas for further research and development projects
A typical KTP involves at least one Associate (a graduate) who is employed by a university or college to work within a company on a specific project of mutual benefit. The associate is supervised by an academic mentor from the institution involved as well as an employee of the company. The KTP may last up to 3 years and could even lead to longer term employment of the associate after completion of the KTP.
If you would like to learn more about KTPs and how your department could get involved, please contact Chris Heidt to arrange a confidential appointment. CCS offers support with the application process and can assist in finding a match between the expertise which Aberystwyth University can offer and an appropriate company.
