Teaching

The Centre for European Studies is developing undergraduate and postgraduate teaching aligned to Aberystwyth University’s Learning and Teaching and Collaboration strategies, as well as the European Union's Jean Monnet actions.

The CES's teaching activities are innovative, prospective and adaptable to a rapidly changing future.These include promoting excellence in teaching practice as well as contributing to the development of teaching-based research (pedagogy).

The strategic teaching aims of the CES will be to:

Develop CES capacity to re-establish Jean Monnet actions at Aberystwyth University. Including:

  • Jean Monnet Chair
  • Jean Monnet Centre of Excellence
  • Jean Monnet Modules
  • Jean Monnet Unilateral and Multilateral projects

Teaching activities will be aligned to Aberystwyth University’s Learning and Teaching Strategy and will focus on the following:

  • Undergraduate teaching will develop student knowledge and understanding of the European Union, and offer progression pathways for postgraduate study or careers in European institutions, national governments, non-governmental organisations, international organisations and multi-national businesses.
  • Postgraduate teaching will prepare students for doctoral training or raise their employability profiles for high-level professional careers in Europe; as political advisors, consultants, policy makers, business leaders and legislators.
