Visit Day Information

Visiting days at the Computer Science Department offer the chance to find out whether Aberystwyth is the right place for you. Aberystwyth is a unique place, offering not only excellent courses in an established and well-resourced university, but also a superb location in a beautiful and friendly town.

During the Visiting Day you'll not only find out all about the degree for which you've applied. You'll also get the chance to look at the accommodation, student union, sports facilities and libraries - in fact everything you need to see as you're deciding where to spend the next few years of your life. 

Visiting Day Arrangements

Visiting days generally start at 1:30pm and end at 5:00pm with tea and the chance to talk informally with staff and students. Registration is at the General Office of the Computer Science Department, which is on the ground floor of the Llandinam Building on the Penglais Campus in Aberystwyth. Your family and friends are also welcome to join you on the visit.

Transport and Accommodation

Train: For visitors arriving on the 13:19 train there is a free coach service from the station to the campus. The coach departs at 5:00pm in time for the return journey. For those arriving on other services, the campus is approximately 15 minutes walk uphill from the train station. Taxis are available at the station for about £3.00. The Town circular public buses also run from the station to the campus.

Bus: There is a coach from South Wales to Aberystwyth, calling at Cardiff, Swansea, Carmarthen and several other towns along the way. There is also a coach from Birmingham. Local buses connect Aberystwyth to west and mid-Wales.

Car: Visitors travelling by car will arrive at the main entrance to the campus on Penglais Hill. Once through the main entrance, continue straight ahead where you will find a number of public car parks.

Travel Expenses

The Department of Computer Science will pay for all applicants' travel expenses, including 100% towards standard return rail or bus fares or 20p per mile for your car journey. Expense forms can be completed during the Visiting Day.

To Register

Simply choose the date you would like to visit Aberystwyth and fill in the online form preferably a minimum of one week before your visit. It helps us to organise the day if you can let us know your prefered course code, mode of transport and the number of people accompanying you. If you have any special requirements for your visit, such as disabled parking, we would be grateful if you could let us know in advance. Link to Online Form
