How to Apply
Every applicant must obtain an UCAS form either from their school or college, or from their local Careers Office. Forms are also available direct from UCAS, Fulton House, Jessop Avenue, Cheltenham, Gloucestershire GL50 3SH. Telephone: +44 (0) 1242 227788.
Information about departmental courses is available on this website in the Aberystwyth University Prospectus, a copy of which can be obtained from the Student Welcome Centre, Penglais Campus, Aberystwyth University, Aberystwyth, Ceredigion, SY23 3FB.
Booklets on Welsh (first and second language), Welsh for Beginners and Celtic Studies courses are available either from the Student Welcome Centre or directly from the Welsh Department.
Every application receives careful consideration, and prospective students are usually invited to a ‘Visiting Day’ which will give them an opportunity to meet members of staff and discuss course contents.
260 points are required for Single Honours Welsh and for Irish or Celtic Studies. It is expected that first and second language students who want to study Single or Joint Honours Welsh (other than Beginners) will have gained at least 100 points ('B' grade) in the Advanced Level Welsh examination (A2). An 'A' grade in Welsh (first language) is normally required for the Professional Welsh Single Honours Degree Scheme. Alternative qualifications such as GNVQ (level 3), the Welsh Baccalauriate and the International Baccalaureate will also be considered. It is normal practice to interview all mature students.
Applicants will officially be notified by UCAS whether or not they have been accepted.
