The Annual Fund

What is the Annual Fund?

The Annual Fund is an approach made each year to every member of the Aber family of alumni, staff, Council and other friends of the University.

Its aim is to provide the resources to fund relatively modest and achievable projects and awards every year which will enhance and broaden the life and educational development of our students.

All the money raised each year is spent on the target projects for that year, and it is allocated according to the preferences and wishes of the donors.

Why is it necessary?

The Annual Fund’s purpose is to provide additional facilities for the benefit of the University’s students. These are things for which traditional University income does not and could not be expected to cover.

This also allows all of Aber’s supporters to participate in something for which they will see an immediate and tangible result and benefit to our students.

How much should I give?

You should give as much as you feel comfortable giving. It is important to us that we can show other potential funders that we have the support of our immediate community and so a gift of whatever size is hugely appreciated.

Gifts can be single or spread over the year through paying monthly by direct debit. Given tax effectively through the Gift Aid system, the value of your gift can be increased by 25% and, if you are a higher rate taxpayer, the actual cost to you can be further reduced.

Where will my gift be spent?

Your gift will be spent on the area you choose or you can allow the University to allocate your gift where it is most needed. The Annual Fund Brochure 2012-13to find details of the projects earmarked for this year’s Annual Fund, and you can signify to which project (or projects) your gift will be allocated.

Whatever choice you make, you can be confident that the University will honour your decision in line with its policy of putting the donors’ wishes first.
