Alumni

Since the first class of Geography degree students were admitted in 1918, over 5,000 students have graduated from Aberystwyth with BA and BSc degrees in Geography, with hundreds more graduating in Geology, Environmental Earth Science and Environmental Science and with postgraduate degrees. Our alumni can be found around the world and in a wide range of jobs. Some have gone on to make important contributions to the discipline as university professors, others have inspired the next generation of geographers and Earth scientists as teachers in schools; some have applied their knowledge as government officials shaping policy, others by working on the frontline as conservation managers or environmental consultants; yet more can be found in every conceivable occupation from airline pilot to wildlife film-maker.

Many life-long friendships were formed in our laboratories or on our fieldtrips, and we are always delighted to hear from our former students. The Centenary provides an opportunity for us to reconnect with our alumni, and for us to come together in celebration of our collective history and achievements. The highlight will be our Centenary Celebration Weekend, 29th June – 1st July 2018, with opportunities to meet up with old friends and lecturers, relive your student experience, and find out about what the department is doing today.

We also want to hear about your memories of being a Geography, Geology, Earth Science or Environmental Science student in Aberystwyth, and would love to receive your old photographs, films, or other mementoes, to include in our virtual history.

Please do take a few minutes to complete our online alumni survey to tell us about what you are doing, share your memories, indicate your interest in Centenary events, and find out how you can help our current and future students.
