Research Clusters

In addition to the research priorities outlined by research group above, there are a number of areas in which research activity and interests in DGES cuts across the different research groups. So as to recognise and support these areas of synergy, a number of cross-cutting research clusters has been established, with a self-selecting membership drawn from across the research groups in DGES and potentially also from colleagues in other departments in AU.

These research clusters are have multiple purposes: (i) to create arenas for discussion, cooperation and collaboration between researchers in DGES working on similar themes in different areas of the discipline; (ii) to promote work in DGES around key themes and position DGES at the centre of emerging research agendas in these areas; (iii) to identify opportunities from funding programmes in these areas and to develop collaborative proposals if appropriate.
