Having completed the full-time Masters ILS course with DIS in 1999 I
spent most of my subsequent time working at the University of Birmingham
as Assistant to the Director of a major ESRC research programme on
‘Devolution and Constitutional Change’. This was something of a surprise
as I expected to find work as a librarian after qualification! My
pre-ILS career pathway has been described as “interesting” by bemused
job interviewers. Previous jobs have included work as a potato packer,
guitarist, archival researcher, DSS “gopher”, church administrator,
caterer, conference organiser, mobile phone assembler, and warehouse
operative.
I am a keen multi-instrumental musician and songwriter with interests in many fields of music, but particularly roots and dub reggae. In addition to recording my own songs in a small home studio I work with the Croydon-based world-fusion collective ‘Secret Archives of the Vatican’. I also have an interest in contemporary and emerging Christian and Rasta theologies and worldviews.
