Pathways in Literary Studies

What are the key features of the course?

If you have a special area of interest, particularly if you are contemplating further study at PhD level, you may wish to pursue your Literary Studies MA by concentrating on that interest.  The Literary Studies pathways provide you with the opportunity to engage more fully with your specialist area.

How is the course organised?

In common with the generic Literary Studies scheme, students will take two one-semester core modules together with two option modules.  For pathway schemes at least one of  the two option modules must be aligned to your chosen pathway.  Part 2 consists of the dissertation which again, in the case of pathway degrees, will be on a subject from within your specialist area of study.  During the Lent and Summer terms, and over the summer vacation, you will work with a supervisor on the topic you have chosen and s/he has approved for your dissertation (to be submitted in early September).
