Responsibilities

Kathryn Gray is a poet, critic and editor. She is a Research Assistant for Devolved Voices, a new three-year project funded by the Leverhulme Trust, exploring the development of Welsh poetry in English since 1997 and Wales’ ‘yes’ vote.

Additional Interests

Kathryn is a director of Literature Wales and a trustee of Tŷ Newydd, the National Writers’ Centre of Wales. She regularly leads workshops and has taught for both the Poetry School and the Arvon Foundation.

Staff Publications

From 2008 to 2011 Kathryn was Editor of Wales’ leading literary quarterly in English, New Welsh Review, and from 2011 until 2012 she was Publishing Editor for Parthian Books. Kathryn’s debut collection of poetry, The Never-Never, was published in 2004 and was shortlisted for the Forward Prize for Best First Collection and the T. S. Eliot Prize. Recent work includes a collaborative artists’ book with Mary Modeen, Uncertain Territories, which was exhibited in the Royal Scottish Academy. Her poems, reviews and features have been published widely in journals and newspapers including the TLS, the Independent, Poetry Review and Poetry Wales.
