Teaching Areas

Katherine is a poet and fiction writer. She teaches creative writing modules across the undergraduate program and the MA in Creative Writing. She also supervises BA and MA dissertations and PhD work.



Research

Katherine’s PhD in Creative Writing, funded by the Arts and Humanities Research Council, was a fictional exploration of changes in Cornish coastal communities when tourism replaced fishing as the main industry, focusing on the experience women workers. Her research interests, creatively and critically, include historical fiction, experiments in narrative time, change in rural communities, Cornish history, and the work of Daphne du Maurier.

Member of the editorial board of New Welsh Review and peer-reviewer for the Welsh Books Council.



Staff Publications

Poet and fiction writer. Debut novel The Visitor will be published by Parthian in 2013. Debut poetry collection Playing House will be published by Seren in 2014.  Reviews of contemporary fiction and poetry have appeared in New Welsh Review, Planet, and Poetry Wales.
