Kelly's main research interests are in British Romanticism and the visual arts.

Biography

Poet, historian, and critic.  Kelly Grovier was educated at the University of California, Los Angeles, and at Oxford University, where he received his doctorate in 2005. 

Staff Publications

Kelly's first collection of poems, A lens in the palm, is published by Carcanet Press in January 2008 and his biography of London’s notorious Newgate Prison, The Gaol, is published by John Murray (Hodder) in June of the same year.  He is the co-founder of the scholarly journal European Romantic Review and a regular contributor to the Times Literary Supplement and The Observer.  His critical study of a forgotten eighteenth-century English philosopher and adventurer, ‘Travels of the mind’: ‘Walking’ Stewart and the Making of Wordsworth’s Imagination, is forthcoming from Liverpool University Press.
