Teaching Areas

Tiffany Atkinson is a poet and literary critic, and teaches across the department’s undergraduate and MA schemes in Creative Writing and Literary Studies. Her main research interests are theories of the body and the history of anatomy, contemporary literature and poetics.

Additional Interests

Tiffany gives regular readings and workshops across the UK.  She is the filter judge for the Cardiff Academi International Poetry Competition and was on the panel of judges for the Wales Book of the Year Award 2008. Recently she has received an Academi Bursary and a Hawthornden Fellowship for work on her new collection.

Staff Publications

Her first poetry collection, Kink and Particle (Seren 2006) was a Poetry Book Society recommendation, shortlisted for the Glen Dimplex New Writers Award, and winner of the Jerwood Aldeburgh First Collection Prize.

Her second collection, Catulla et al (Bloodaxe 2011) was described by Patrick McGuinness (Guardian) as showing "Atkinson's gift for unsettling conceits and reworking everyday life into a contorted, surreal folklore".

She is currently working on a third collection, provisionally entitled So Many Moving Parts. She is also the editor of The Body: A Reader (Palgrave 2004). Her poetry is featured on Poetry International Web and appears regularly in journals and anthologies, including Identity Parade: New British and Irish Poets ed. Roddy Lumsden (Bloodaxe 2010) and Women’s Work: Modern Women Poets Writing In English ed. Amy Wack and Eva Salzman (Seren 2009).
