David Towsey

David graduated from Aberystwyth University in 2006 with a BA Hons in English and Creative Writing. He then gained a Master’s degree in Creative Writing from Bath Spa University, before returning to Aberystwyth to complete a PhD.

‌‌‘In 2013, whilst finishing my PhD at Aberystwyth University, I published my debut novel, Your Brother’s Blood. Since then I have been welcomed into a large community of genre-fiction writers, readers, reviewers, critics, and – most importantly – fans. I’ve attended international conferences and conventions, given readings, and taken part in panel discussions. As social media continues to grow in scope, writers are engaging with these exciting platforms in lots of ways: I have been interviewed for blogs, guest-blogged on a number of sites, and written articles for online and print content for magazines.

‌This work has continued through the publication of the second and third books in my trilogy: Your Servants and Your People and Your Resting Place, respectively. Being under contract for a novel a year has really tested my ability to manage my time and meet publisher’s deadlines – all skills I developed over the course of my studies at Aberystwyth University.

More recently, I have been working in collaboration with another writer, which has been extremely rewarding and challenged me in a number of exciting ways. We met at Aberystwyth, and this is just one example of the number of invaluable contacts I made there. I really can’t think of a more supportive environment for an aspiring writer.’
