Summary Course Outline
First Year - A total of 120 credits to include:
- Issues in World Literatures (20 credits)
- Encountering Texts (20 credits)
- Ancestral Voices (20 credits)
plus 60 credits of modules from:
- Rewritings and Revisioning Texts (20 credits)
- Contemporary Writing (20 credits)
- American Literature and Drama (20 credits)
- Greek and Roman Epic Drama (20 credits)
- History of Greek and Roman Ideas (20 credits)
- Modules offered by other departments
Second Year - A total of 120 credits to include:
- Postcolonial Literatures: Perspectives and Paradigms
- Reading Theory/Reading Text 1
Plus at least two of the following:
- Medieval and Renaissance Writing (20 credits)
- Restoration and eighteenth-century Writing (20 credits)
- Nineteenth-century Literature (20 credits)
- Twentieth-century British Literature (20 credits)
Plus two 20-credit English and World Literature option modules.
Third Year - A total of 120 credits to include:
- Reading Theory/Reading Text 2: World Literatures (30 credits)
- The Dissertation (30 credits)
Plus two 30-credit English and World Literature options.
