Plans for IBERS Penglais
Plans for IBERS Penglais
As part of the development of the Institute of Biological, Environmental and Rural Sciences (IBERS),works are in progress on both the Penglais and Gogerddan sites. Refurbishments to the Edward Llwyd and Cledwyn Buildings have recently been completed, and preparations are in place for the construction of two new buildings: one on Penglais Campus and one on Gogerddan Campus.  Key features of both buildings will be the green sedum roof, designed to reduce the carbon footprint of the estate, and the biomass boiler which uses alternative energy sources to reduce energy consumption. The completed buildings will achieve a BREEAM rating of excellent, making them amongst the most ecologically-friendly new builds in the country.  The Gogerddan building will also feature a state-of-the-art Glasshouse, putting IBERS at the cutting edge of Phenomics and Genomics Research.
