Time Allocation Survey (TAS)

The Transparaency Review is a Government initiated costing exercise, which Universities are obliged to undertake. A part of this requires the use of academic staff time to allocate costs over Teaching, Research and Other Activities.  The University must achieve a minimum return rate of 80% from academic staff to be able to recover its full overhead costs on all new Research Council grants. Confidentiality of individual returns are maintained by staff from the Research Office.

The initial survey started in Autumn 2004 and ran up to and including September 2005. A new approach to surveying academic time has now been agreed with effect from November 2005 whereby departments are sampled every year details of which Departments are involved are shown to the right of this notice for your information.
