Members shall be appointed by the Council, the Senate and other bodies to the Committees listed in section 1 and 2 above, commencing 1 August except as otherwise determined by resolution of the Council. Appointments shall normally be for three years, but may be made for a shorter term to achieve rotation. Retiring members shall be eligible for reappointment for a further term (i.e. not only one term) subject to any limitations imposed by the Council or the Senate, by resolution. The appointing bodies, when considering the reappointment of members, shall be informed of their attendance record over the preceding term of appointment. Student representatives are appointed for a term of one academic year.
The appointment of members of the Council to these committees shall normally be made during March or July prior to the effective date of appointment.
Nominations shall be made to Council by the Nominations Committee except in the case of membership of the Nominations Committee itself. In addition, members of the Council shall be entitled to submit nominations in writing to the Registrar and Secretary by a prescribed date and time in accordance with Ordinance 11. The only candidates to be considered for election to committees shall be those nominated by the prescribed date and time, in accordance with above procedure.
Casual vacancies shall be filled for the remainder of the term of office of the person causing the vacancy.
Members appointed by Council to committees may include persons who are not current members of Council. The Nominations Committee shall be entitled also to recommend the appointment of non-members of Council, on the understanding that with the exception of the Audit Committee, a clear majority of those appointed to any body are Council members. In the case of the Audit Committee, the Chairman and not more than two other members shall be current members of Council.
