Standing Orders of the Council

Committees of the Council

  1. The Council has the power by Administrative Regulation to establish committees, boards, consultative panels and advisory boards which may or may not include representatives of the Council and such other persons as the Council may determine - Statute 16(25).
  2. The Standing Committees of the Council shall be - Administrative Regulation: 'Committees reporting to the Council':

    Finance and General Purposes Committee
    Audit Committee
    Staffing Committee
    Remuneration Committee
    Nominations Committee
  3. The Joint Committees of the Council and Senate shall be - Administrative Regulation: 'Committees reporting to the Council:

    Planning and Resources Committee
    Joint Committee on the Use of Welsh
    Charter Committee
    Committee for the Nomination of Fellows
    Equal Opportunities Committee
    Ethics Committee for Research Procedures
    Health Safety and Environmental Committee
  4. The composition and terms of reference of the above committees are set out in an Administrative Regulation.
  5. Provisions shall be made by Administrative Regulation with regard to the quorum for each of the above committees.
  6. Subject to the Charter and Statutes, the Council may authorise committees to take executive action on its behalf, in relation to specific matters or more generally, with or without power further to delegate to another body or person, on the understanding that it retains full responsibility for any action taken under that authority and that such matters are reported fully to the Council at its next ordinary meeting.
