Pro Vice-Chancellor (Student Affairs), Chair.
Pro Vice-Chancellor (Academic Affairs).
The Deans of the Faculties of Arts, Science and Social Sciences.
The Chair of the School of Welsh Medium Studies.
The Director of Postgraduate Studies.
3 representatives elected by the Faculties.
2 representatives elected by the Guild of Students.
The Director of Information Services (ex officio member).
There is also provision for co-option of other staff on to the Committee
The Director of Staff Development is invited to attend as an observer.
Terms of Reference
- The Academic Affairs Committee is a Standing Committee of Senate.
- The function of the Academic Affairs Committee is to provide advice and make recommendations to Senate on areas of broad academic policy and related matters covering:
The maintenance and monitoring of academic standards and quality including:- Departmental Reviews.
- Approval of new or revised study schemes, subject to confirmation by the University where appropriate.
- Consideration of all external review, validation or accreditation exercises relating to teaching activities within UWA.
- Overview of the UWA Learning and Teaching Strategy.
- Overview of examination issues, including receiving reports from the Superintendent of Examinations.
- Monitoring of student appeals and complaints.
- Overview of unfair practice cases within the university.
Inter-Faculty Academic Affairs.
Matters referred by Senate or Academic Board of the University of Wales.
