All proposals for major changes in the content of existing undergraduate courses shall be referred to the Faculty concerned.
All proposals for new courses (undergraduate and postgraduate) shall be referred to the Faculty concerned and to the Academic Affairs Committee, who shall consider the resource implications, if any, and will report therefore first to Senate and then to Council with any recommendations the Senate may wish to make.
If when a new course is proposed the same course or one closely resembling it is already offered in another Faculty then that Faculty shall also be consulted.
A proposal that an existing course (undergraduate or postgraduate) should be discontinued shall be referred to the Faculty in which that course is offered before any decision is made by the Senate and this shall be done even if the course concerned, or one closely resembling it, is available in another Faculty.
NOTE 1
Unless the Chairman requests a formal vote, in which case strict voting procedure shall be maintained, non-voting members may indicate opinion alongside other members of the Senate. In the case of a formal vote non-voting members shall be asked separately to indicate their opinion on the issue under debate.
Where strict voting procedure is to be followed and voting papers are to be issued, voting papers should be issued to all members and those who are non-voting members should write NV at the right top hand top corner.
