Composition

  • Pro Vice-Chancellor with responsibility for the student experience (Chair)
  • A representative from each Faculty (to be nominated by the relevant Dean)
  • The President of the Guild of Students
  • The President of UMCA
  • The President of the Postgraduate Students Association
  • Up to four members who may be co-opted from within or beyond the University, as appropriate

In attendance

  • The Director of Student Support
  • The Assistant Director(s) of Student Support
  • The Director of Residential and Hospitality Services
  • The Senior Tutor
  • The General Manager and the sabbatical officers of the Guild

Terms of reference

  • to foster best practice in student support by monitoring performance and assessing achievements by the individual service areas and by the sector as a whole;
  • to promote a student-centred ethos across the institution, by reviewing practice elsewhere, ensuring best fit wish policy development nationally and internationally, and engaging with institutional priorities;
  • to establish effective links between the primary, secondary and external providers and users of student support;
  • to gather regular feedback from users and providers, to better inform policy and the strategic development of support for students;
  • to report annually to the Senate, paying special attention to matters of strategic development and resources.
