Postgraduate Induction Programme
Welcome to Postgraduate Study at Aberystwyth University.
The University has an enviable reputation for the quality of both its academic provision and student experience. We are confident that you will find your time here enjoyable and inspiring. I would like to take this opportunity to introduce you to the Graduate School and in particular to the support the University offers its postgraduate students.
The University provides several central induction events.
Research Postgraduates should attend the two following events:
- Induction for Research Postgraduates 2012
- Year 1 Graduate Workshop Thursday 27th and Friday 28th September, from 9:30am in Medrus Penbryn
These are both compulsory for all new Research Postgraduates (PhD, MPhil etc)
Taught Postgraduates should attend:
- Induction for Taught Postgraduates 2012 This is compulsory for all new Taught Postgraduates (MA, MSc, MScEcon, LLM etc).
In addition to the University’s induction activities, you will also have induction meetings within your academic department.
The aim of University induction activities is to introduce you to the range of University services which are available to postgraduate students, as well as to provide you with essential information about registration. It is also an opportunity to meet your fellow students and some of the staff in the University with responsibility for postgraduate studies. In addition to offering you a warm welcome, we hope that induction will answer many of the questions that you may have about what you can expect, and what will be expected of you, as a postgraduate student here.
All new full-time postgraduate students are required to attend. New part-time postgraduate students are very welcome to attend as well, but their attendance is not compulsory.
I look forward to meeting you.
With best wishes,
Professor Colin McInnes
Dean of Postgraduate Studies
