Fascination of Plants Day - celebrating the wonder of plants

9.30 am to 6 pm

Friday 18 May 2012

Botany Gardens, Penglais, Aberystwyth

18th May 2012 is the first InternationalFascination of Plants Day http://www.plantday12.eu/, which aims to fascinate and enthuse everyone about plants and the importance of Friday plant science for agriculture, forestry, horticulture, food, paper, timber, chemicals, energy, and pharmaceuticals. The role of plants in environmental conservation is also a key message.

The main Botany Garden glasshouse (directly opposite the main entrance of Penglais campus) will be open to the public all dayhttp://users.aber.ac.uk/noe2/fpd/index.htm. University staff and students are also welcome. Parking is very limited, so please walk/cycle/use the bus. Visitors can wander through the glasshouse on a self-guided tour and discuss exhibits of plant science research with staff from Aberystwyth University’s Institute of Biological, Environmental & Rural Sciences.

We hope to communicate that plants are critical to our social and environmental landscapes, now and in the future.
