IBERS - Dyfi Osprey Project Migration Study
We are pleased to be collaborating with Montgomeryshire Wildlife Trust’s Dyfi Osprey Project in an effort to gain invaluable and cutting-edge information about osprey ecology and migration that will ultimately aid in the birds conservation and recovery in Wales and beyond.
Part of the collaboration involves IBERS sponsorship of solar-powered GPS tracking units which transmit regular location and flight pattern data back to researchers. The trackers have an operational life of approximately five years, allowing us to follow the birds during several annual migrations between their summer breeding territories in Wales and their wintering grounds in West Africa.
You can use the interactive migration map below to follow the Dyfi ospreys on their incredible journeys.
