Welcome to IGES schools teaching zone. Here we will aim to provide useful information and resources for teachers of Geography and Earth Science across the country.

Aberystwyth Univesity is committed to supporting schools and colleges, and as such provides a Schools and Colleges Liasion Service. This service is to complement and support the work undertaken in schools and colleges in helping students with their research into higher education. Academic members of staff at Aberystwyth University are also able to offer a programme of lectures, presentations and workshops throughout the academic year, and IGES staff are highly active within this. Wednesday 2nd December 2009 - Aber Climate Day

On Wednesday 2nd December 2009 in A12, Hugh Owen Building, Aberystwyth University, the Institute of Geography and Earth Science held Aber Climate Day. All talks were aimed at those taking A-Levels as well as undergraduates and those with a keen interest in climate change. The day hoped to raise awareness of the issues relating to the UN Climate Change Conference in Copenhagen, 7th-18th December 2009. A number of schools from in and around Ceredigion were invited and the day was a great success.
