Trinity Certificate in Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages (Cert. TESOL)

This is a professional training course for people who want to teach English as a foreign language in the UK or overseas.

The course is validated by Trinity College London, one of the two leading bodies that validate ELT teacher-training courses in the UK. 

The Trinity certificate is recognised by employers across the world. 

Who the course is for

The course is intended for graduates, or candidates with equivalent qualifications, intending to teach English as a Foreign Language to adults.  All applicants must have a good level of spoken and written English.  Non-native speakers of English will be accepted with a score equivalent to at least 7.5 IELTS.

Funding Opportunities

There may be some funding for this course through your local Job Centre.  Ask them about the Low Value Welfare to Work scheme.

 

What the course contains

  • one hundred and thirty timetabled hours over 25 days (5 weeks)
  • practical and theoretical aspects of English language teaching
  • latest methodologies
  • observation of experienced teachers in the classroom
  • teaching practice

Assessment

  • Written assessment in the form of an essay or project concentrating on an aspect of English language teaching
  • A final examination of a practical nature, which is intended to allow participants to demonstrate the skills acquired.
  • Practical assessment based on teaching skills

Course Tuition Fees

The fee for each course is £1,300 including the Trinity moderation and exam fee. This also includes all tuition, materials and use of the allocated Centre's  resources. Current full time students of Aberystwyth University (including summer 2013 graduates) are offered a 15% fee reduction. In addition, for successful participants, the Centre will write TEFL career references for up to 3 years after completion of the course when requested.

Accommodation

Accommodation in a student hall of residence may be available, at a cost of £100 per week.

Course Dates 2013

Course 1:  Monday 24 June to Friday 26 July inclusive.

Course 2:  Monday 29 July to Friday 30 August inclusive.

Each course has a maximum of 14 participants.
