Step 1: Choose a subject & Review Entry Requirements
Firstly, choose your course! You can find all information about courses available at Aberystwyth University on our course webpages or via UCAS (The Universities and Colleges Admissions Service) website.

You will also be required to demonstrate English proficiency at the following level:
- IELTS - from 6.0 to 7.0
If you do not meet our English Language Requirements - do not worry! Our International English Centre offers courses that will be able to help you with that. Just visit the IEC website or contact them directly at email@example.com.
Step 2: Review costs & sources of funds
Visit our Tuition Fees webpages to check the fees for the upcoming Academic Year.
Aberystwyth University also offers attractive scholarships to our International and EU Students. For further information on the scholarship eligibility, visit our Scholarship Webpages.
You will also need to meet specific financial requirements to be eligible for a Tier 4 Student Visa. . You will need enough money to cover:
1) your tuition fees for your first period of study
2) your living expenses

Step 3: Review ways of applying & deadlines
It is advisable that all applications for undergraduate courses are submitted online via UCAS. We recommend you apply through UCAS before the 15th of January, however we accept that some applicants, especially from outside the UK, may find this difficult. Applications are in practice accepted by UCAS throughout the remainder of the applications year until 30th of June.
You can also apply directly to the university by contacting our Undergraduate Admission Team at firstname.lastname@example.org. As in the UCAS application process, you will be required to send us the following:
- Overview of your education history
- Required references
- Personal statement
- Language certificate

Step 4: Submit Application
After you submit your application to UCAS/ directly to Aberystwyth University, you may be asked to provide any additional or missing information. Please provide any information requested promptly.
Step 5: Receive acknowledgement
Once you've sent your application you will receive a welcome email from UCAS. In the welcome email you will find your UCAS personal ID which enables you to track your application online.
Step 6: Receive and accept offer letter
Aberystwyth University makes a decision regarding your application – a Conditional or an Unconditional Offer. If you submitted your application before you competed your previous education, it is likely that at this stage the offer will be Conditional until you send all required documents and transcripts. You should accept the offer to be able to apply for accommodation.
Step 7: Apply for accommodation
From April onwards, you can apply for accommodation for the next academic year. Please note you can only apply for University accommodation if you have selected Aberystwyth as either your Firm or Insurance choice.
Aberystwyth University offers rooms in different residences to allow you to select the option that best fits your requirements - the description of all accommodation options available to our students can be found on the Accommodation website :https://www.aber.ac.uk/en/accommodation/types-accommodation/. The Virtual Accommodation Tour will help you select the Accommodation option that is most conveniently located for easy access to buildings that you will be visiting the most - be it the library, your department or our excellent Arts Centre!
You will receive information on how to apply for your accommodation in the e-mail sent directly by the Accommodation Office - if you would like to familiarize yourself with the process beforehand, you can always visit the How to Apply section on the Accommodation Website: https://www.aber.ac.uk/en/accommodation/how-to-apply/.

Step 8: Submit required documents
Once you received all your exam results or test scores, you need to submit the transcripts to Aberystwyth University along with your Financial Declaration Form and financial evidence. You will also need to pay a tuition fee deposit before you can receive the Unconditional Offer from us.
Please note that the full list of documents you need to submit will be listed in your Conditional Offer Letter.

Step 9: Aberystwyth issues CAS Letter
Once you have received an Unconditional Offer Letter and accepted your place at Aberystwyth University, we issue a Confirmation of Acceptance for Students (CAS Letter) – it is an extremely important document that you need to support your Tier 4 (General) Student Visa application form.
Step 10: Receive CAS and use it to apply for Visa
To apply for a Tier 4 (General) student visa you will need the following:
- Your CAS number (contained in your CAS email from Aberystwyth University)
- Immigration Health Surcharge number
- The transcripts/qualification certificates listed in the CAS email
- Finances – evidence of funds to meet the UKVI maintenance requirements
- ATAS Certificate (if applicable)
- Tuberculosis (TB) certificate (if applicable)
- Valid passport (You will need to send your passport with your student visa application. Check that it is not about to expire and that it has one blank page)
- Passport photograph
