  • International agreement for DNA barcoding the world’s plants
    An international team of scientists, including researchers at Aberystwyth University, has concluded a four–year effort to agree on a standard ‘plant DNA barcode’ to provide the foundation for the widespread use of DNA technologies to identify plants. Professor Mike Wilkinson and Dr Caroline Ford from the Institute of Biological, Environmental and Rural Sciences (IBERS) at Aberystwyth University are members of the 52 strong team of scientists from 10 countries who collaborated on the work.
  • Student Welcome Centre Student Welcome Centre
    Aberystwyth University’s new Student Welcome Centre, which provides a comprehensive range of support services for students, has been formally opened by the University’s Vice-Chancellor Professor Noel Lloyd. Representing an investment of £1.5m, the new centre brings together key student services which were previously provided at various locations on campus and in the town. The Student Fees Office and Student Support Services are based at the Centre, as is the University’s Admissions and Recruitment office. Together they offer advice and support on finance, disability, learning support, health and medical issues, undergraduate and postgraduate courses and information on international study opportunities. It also provides a focal point for international students studying at Aberystwyth.
