International Excellence Scholarship Award Evening
On Tuesday, 27 October at the University’s Brynamlwg Social Club, an informal gathering of Aberystwyth’s international award holders took place. This was the first such event co-ordinated by International Recruitment and Collaboration and represents the importance Aberystwyth places on having a diverse international study body. Over 35 students from across the globe came together to meet with academic members of staff from their respective departments, along with staff from Admissions and Recruitment and the IRC. Students from Canada, the USA, India, Croatia, Japan, Malaysia, Norway, Russia, South Korea, Brunei and Panama were the proud recipients of this year’s international awards and scholarships which were shared by seven departments including Management and Business; Information Studies; Biological; Environmental and Rural Studies; Theatre, Film and TV Studies; International Politics; Welsh; and English and Creative Writing.
Also attending was the Vice-Chancellor, Professor Noel Lloyd who said a few words of congratulations and also Professor Aled Gruffydd Jones, Pro Vice-Chancellor who said “Aberystwyth University is delighted and honoured to welcome new students from so many parts of the world to study such a wide range of academic disciplines. Aberystwyth is an excellent place to study, and we are confident that our international award holders this year will enjoy their time here to the full, and will make the most of what the Aber experience has to offer them”.
