‌‌‌‌‌‌‌At the International Office we see ourselves as promoting a Global outlook. Our social programme is designed to connect international students and home students alike, hence the Global aspect, through a varied programme of activities celebrating the diversity of Aberystwyth. This page will be updated to show upcoming events, so check back regularly!

Semester 1 TripsHarlech Castle

 

**Please note that trips may be cancelled if not enough students book a place – friends and family are welcome but will require individual booking**

Elan Valley, Wednesday 17th October (Wednesday Afternoon Trip)

The Elan Valley Reservoirs are a chain of man-made lakes created from damming the Elan and Claerwen rivers within the Elan Valley in Mid Wales.
Come and see what the Elan Valley has to offer and enjoy a guided bus tour around the Valley and visit the dams.

£6 for the coach.

Bath and The Roman Baths, Saturday 20th October (Saturday All Day Trip)

Bath is a town set in the English countryside, famous for its beautiful architecture, iconic sights and fascinating history, and most of all its Roman Baths.

The Roman Baths form one of the best-preserved ancient Roman spas in the world, and is one of the UK’S most popular tourist attractions.

You will also have a chance to visit the town of Bath

£15 for the coach, tickets for entrance to The Roman Baths will be extra, prices TBC

 

Carmarthen, Wednesday 7th November (Wednesday Afternoon Trip)

Carmarthen is a historic welsh town, which is believed to be the oldest in Wales.

It now houses St Catherine Walks shopping centre, with many high street branded shops and an array of fabulous cafes and restaurants.

Go ten pin bowling or to their multi screen cinema complex.

An enjoyable afternoon for all.

 

Cardiff Winter Wonderland, Saturday 24th November (Saturday All Day Trip)

An ever popular trip to the Cardiff Winter Wonderland which offers Ice Skating, a Fun Fair and an alpine village serving festive food and drink.

Entrance to the wonderland is free except ice skating. You have the option to buy an ice skating ticket through the International Office.

You might also choose visit the Doctor Who Experience in the Bay, or Cardiff Castle in the centre, or just take advantage of the shopping and social opportunities the Welsh Capital has to offer.

Semester 2 Trips

 

Liverpool, Saturday 23rd February (Saturday All Day Trip)

In 2008 Liverpool was named the European City of culture and is home to The Beatles.

This is your chance to visit the cities famous sites, enjoy some wonderful food, do some shopping or visit the museums and galleries.

Liverpool has something for everyone

Devil's Bridge and Hafod Estate, Wednesday 20th March (Wednesday Afternoon Trip)

Devil’s Bridge are world famous waterfalls. Come and visit the falls, set alongside stunning walks, visit the chocolatiers or enjoy a cup of tea and a scone in the tea rooms.

You will then have an opportunity to visit the Hafod estate,

Harlech Castle and Portmeirion, Saturday 30th March (Saturday All Day Trip)

Portmeirion is a village on the Gwynedd coast built in the style of an Italian village with a variety of things to see and freshly made ice creams. It is seen as a fanciful village with colourful buildings and sweeping seafront.

Harlech Castle is in the heart of the Snowdonia National Park overlooking the Irish Sea and was a stronghold of both Glyndwr during his rebellion and the Lancastrians during the War of the Roses.

Nant Y Arian, Wednesday 3rd April (Wednesday Afternoon Trip)

Enjoy the watching the red kites in their natural habitat and mountain views in Mid Wales’ most popular woodland. 

With a range of walking and mountain biking trails, visitor centre and café.

Newquay, Wednesday 24th April (Wednesday Afternoon Trip)

Picturesque fishing village with golden sandy beaches, a perfect summer treat away from the exams!

Perhaps you might even spot a dolphin

Chester, Saturday 4th May, (Saturday All Day Trip)

Chester is a classic, contemporary city bursting with must see treasures!

It's known for its extensive Roman walls made of local red sandstone. In the old city, the Rows is a shopping district distinguished by 2-level covered arcades and Tudor-style half-timber buildings. A Roman amphitheatre, with ongoing excavations, lies just outside the old city's walls.

Enjoy a day in the city or visit the famous Chester Zoo

One World Week

One World Week 2019 will run from the 4th of March to the 9th of March and shall contain many exciting events for all to attend. We are still looking for performers for our Gala Evening and stallholders for our World Fair, so please get in contact if you are interested in taking part, simply email oneworld@aber.ac.uk.
