As Tuscaloosa is in the South, the climate is very mild even in winter with average temperatures for December staying above freezing. The town itself is full of history and has lots of bars and restaurants to while away the days in. Accommodation

A range of accommodation options are available for exchange students. As with most American universities, the majority of the accommodation requires students to have at least one roommate although there are apartment and suite options available, too. The rates vary depending on the type of accommodation and room set-up.

Visa Information and Other Costs

All international and exchange students must apply for a J-1 visa as well as an I-901 SEVIS to study in the US. Both of these documents have fees attached which are liable to change year on year.

ALL students attending UGA MUST have health insurance and be able to prove that they have purchased it. Unless the student arranges an alternaive, health insurance is provided automatically by UGA and billed to the student. Without the appropriate health insurance, students will not be eligible for a visa.

There are various other costs to consider before applying to UA, details of which can be found in this table.
