Location

Hong Kong Baptist University is in the Kowloon District of Hong Kong. Three campuses are located in the urban heart of Kowloon Tong, while the Kai Tak Campus is on Kwun Tong Road and the Shek Mun Campus is in Shatin. Kowloon Tong is an upper class area and is a relatively low density compared to the rest of Hong Kong which has a population of over 7 million. The University has access to state of the art media, art and communication facilities and the city has a plethora of activities available. Sports facilities include two multi-purpose gymnasiums, squash and tennis courts, a swimming pool, fitness room and a full-size outdoor athletics stadium.

As well as being a perfect base for travel in the whole of the Asia-Pacific region, Hong Kong itself is a wonderful metropolitan city. During your time there you will be able to explore and take in local attractions such as the Ladies’ Market and Hong Kong Disneyland.

Courses 

Courses are offered in English or Chinese. Students from any academic department are eligible to apply at the discretion of their Department’s Exchange Co-Ordinator. Hong Kong Baptist University has a number of academic departments that are similar to those at Aberystwyth; students are advised to discuss the suitability of HKBU for their degree with their Departmental Exchanges Co-Ordinator There are a number of courses available that are similar to the following departments in Aberystwyth. Accommodation

There are a range of accommodation options available. Exchange students have the option to choose to live on or off campus.  Undergraduate exchange students are housed in the 21-storey Undergraduate Halls.  Graduate exchange students are housed in the NTT International House.  On-campus bed spaces are provided on a first-come-first-served basis. If you prefer to live off-campus, it will be your own responsibility to make arrangements.

Visa Information and Other Costs 

All students must apply for an study visa in order to take a place at HKBU. This document has fees attached which are liable to change year on year. 

Students should verify what coverage they have under Aberystwyth University but they are strongly encouraged to take out their own travel insurance as doctor's fees in Hong Kong can be expensive. Students are also partially covered by HKBU's policy.

Students should also consider the cost of living.

Getting There‌

The closest airport to HKBU is Hong Kong International Airport. Students will have to arrange their own transfer or take public transport to reach the university.

The first semester begins in August and ends in December. International students are expected to arrive a few days in advance of term dates. The second semester begins in January and ends in June.

How to Apply

All students wishing to go on an exchange to HKBU must apply through Aberystwyth University as they must first be nominated by the international office and students usually go in the second semester of their second year unless they have special permission from their department. After being nominated, students can then apply. Deadlines for applications for Fall entry are in May and October for Spring.
