Murdoch University is located in Perth, a laid-back city with amazing weather and beautiful beaches. It’s a sophisticated, cosmopolitan city with a huge selection of bars, restaurants and cultural activities. Murdoch has a diverse international staff and student community and a great community feel. The South Street Campus is set amongst a beautiful bush environment and covers over 227 hectares, making it one of the largest campuses in Australia.

During you time in Perth you could take the chance to visit Penguin Island which is home to a colony of 1,200 penguins! Perth averages around 3,000 hours of sunshine a year and has a whopping 19 beaches and with a population of over 2 million, you’ll never be bored!

All courses are offered in English. Students from any academic department are eligible to apply at the discretion of their department’s exchange coordinator. There are a number of course available that are similar to the following departments in Aberystwyth. These include:

Accommodation

Murdoch University Village is a friendly residential community with a variety of apartment types to select from, all conveniently located on our main South Street campus. Alternatively, you can choose to live off campus in private rental accommodation or with an Australian host family.

Visa Information and Other Costs 

All international and exchange students must apply for a student visa (subclass 500). The cost of the visa may change year on year. 

A condition of the visa is that studetns will have appropriate Health Insurance. Murdoch University can arrange program length OSHC for students who are arriving from overseas to study in Australia for the first time. If you have taken the option to pay your OSHC fee by selecting it on the application form, you will automatically be insured with Allianz Global AssistanceStudents who purchase OSHC through Allianz Global Assistance will be given an Allianz Global Assistance card which must be presented to a doctor whenever you seek medical treatment.

Getting There‌

The closest airport to Murdoch is Perth International from which students have a number of options for transfers to univeristy accommodation. Flight times from London to Perth is 20 hours+.

Enrolment for the first trimester opens in mid-February and the trimester ends in mid-June. The second trimester enrolment takes place in early July and the trimesters ends in mid-October. The third trimester elrolment opens at the end of October and the last day of the trimester is in mid-Febraury.  International students are expected to arrive a few days in advance of term dates. 

How to Apply

All students wishing to go on an exchange to Murdoch University must apply through Aberystwyth University as they must first be nominated by the international office and students usually go in the second semester of their second year unless they have special permission from their department. After being nominated, students must complete the application form. Applications can either be submitted by e-mail or by post.

The application deadline for semseter 1 (Feb-Jun) is the end of November and the semester 2 deadline is the end of May.
