Do I need to notify the Home Office of any changes to my study?
Changing to a new course at Aberystwyth University
You do not require permission from the Home Office to change courses at the same institution, unless the new course is longer or shorter that the original one. However, we will notify the Home Office of the change of course. If the course is longer, you must apply to extend your permission to stay. If it is shorter, you must notify the Home office immediately.
Please make an appointment with the International Student Adviser if you would like further advice on this matter.
Taking up a course of study with a new sponsor.
If you wish to take up a new course at another institution, you must e-mail MigrantReporting@ukba.gsi.gov.uk to ask for permission. The email message must include the following information:
- the new sponsor's name, address and contact details; and
- details of the new course, including the start and end date.
You may also need to apply for a new visa (depending on whether you applied for your current Tier 4 student visa on or after 5 October 2009). Further information can be found here: http://www.ukba.homeoffice.gov.uk/visas-immigration/studying/adult-students/changes/#
If you transfer from another institution to Aberystwyth University, please contact the International Student Adviser, for advice and support in applying for a new visa.
