Welcome to International Students
Useful information and practical advice for new international students
We hope that the information provided in these pages will help you to plan and prepare your trip to Aberystwyth as well as give you an idea of the activities that will be taking place in the first few days of the academic year. We realise that coming to university is a daunting experience, this is particularly so for international students, we therefore encourage you to come and visit the International Office as soon as you arrive so that we can meet you and help you with any of your needs. You can find us in the Cledwyn Building, Penglais, on the second floor. Welcome to Aberystwyth University!
Guide for Incoming International Students - Planning your trip
We have put together a guide that contains all the information that you need to prepare for your trip, from applying for your visa to what you should pack, please see the Guide for Incoming International Students 2016-2017
Preparing to study in the UK
We recommend that you visit the Prepare for Success website, this is an interactive tool to help international students prepare themselves to come and study in the UK, it covers a huge range of subjects from lecturing styles in the UK to assessment criteria.
Signpost Mentoring Scheme
The University offers a mentoring scheme to new first year students. The scheme enables you to be paired with a second or third year undergraduate student to help you settle in to university life. Mentoring can help you if you are feeling home sick, need help finding your way around, need help in understading how the university operates, and much more. More details are available from here https://www.aber.ac.uk/en/student-support/signpostmentoring/.
Welcome Week Programme
We will be adding events as they are confirmed, so please make sure that you revisit this page frequently!
